Global Accreditation Organization for Life Experience and Education (GAOLEE) was established in order to coordinate and stimulate the development of distance education in the global marketplace with the greatest weight of emphasis on life experience. The aim was to develop the competence of the existing higher education institutions, both public and private, within the field of distance education.
GAOLEE was founded in 1992, as an accrediting association providing a consistent measurement of the acceptability of private universities and colleges. GAOLEE is an international association, providing services to private universities, colleges and institutes worldwide. GAOLEE is not approved and does not seek approval from any other accrediting associations or individual governments. GAOLEE provides assurance to the public and prospective students that an institution has been found to meet the association's criteria requirements by approving only those institutions that allow an examination of appropriate criteria that meet all accreditation requirements. The private schools, colleges and universities that gain accreditation by GAOLEE are committed to provide qualified students with advanced degrees that meet and in most cases exceed the qualifications of traditionally accredited schools, colleges and universities. The integrity, reliability and opportunities for career advancement are of primary concern when evaluating a school for possible accreditation.
Since 1992, the GAOLEE network of universities and public and private colleges have been amalgamated into over 95 institutions throughout the world. Each institution has appointed a contact person who is responsible for representing their institution in the Distance Education Network. The institutions specialize in a variety of different fields and cooperate to supplement each other where, and if necessary. This Distance Education Network represents a unique blend of competence in the different areas of Open and Distance Learning. By coordinating this competence through the GAOLEE network, it is possible to offer flexible distance education to students who are not able to or do not want to attend ordinary education on campus.
